Here's what we've been up to this week so far!
On Monday we embarked on our adventure to National Trust property Wightwick Manor. We started off our day by sketching in the rose garden and then entered the house at midday. We enjoyed looking at all of the rooms and original William Morris Arts and Crafts designs. We particularly liked the old-fashioned Nursery, Turkish baths and four poster beds. Packed lunches were eaten in the sunshine before posing for a group photo and returning for the minibus. The day flew by! Pupil behaviour was excellent. Thank you everyone for a fantastic start to the week.
Wightwick Manor follow up day in school
Pupils spent the day making model rooms in the style of Wightwick Manor using shoe boxes. Children remembered an awful lot of features about the house and have tried to recreate them as best as possible. The rooms look brilliant – thank you for everyone’s hard work! We finished the day with afternoon tea, unfortunately this was meant to be enjoyed outside in the glorious sunshine, however, the rain didn’t put us off and the scones tasted equally good in a classroom!
The rain keeps coming!! We were determined we wouldn’t let the weather get the better of us, so we donned our wellington boots and waterproofs and set off for Grange Farm. Children enjoyed picking strawberries and raspberries and immersed themselves in country living for a morning, hopefully the photographs say it all!
We said a quick hello to the animals before leaving Grange Farm at around 11:15 to avoid getting too soggy. We returned to school and were treated to a hot chocolate to help us warm up. We then ate our lunch at school and watched Wimbledon in the afternoon whilst eating our strawberries we had picked this morning, with ice-cream of course. It was delicious! Another fantastic day was had by all.
