A number of year 9 pupils planned a trip to Cosford as part of their Skills for Independence and Work qualification. We had a great day in a very empty museum so we got to do loads of stuff without fuss. We met 2 veterans of WW2, one who landed on the D-Day beaches and the other, pictured on the left who was a gunner in a tank in north Africa fighting against Rommel. His tank was hit three times and he suffered many injuries. He recounted his stories to us and showed us a book he was in. Even more remarkable was that he is over 100 years old!
