On Friday 26th June 2015 nine pupils from years 7-9 took part in a football tournament as part of Black Country Youth Games. Sutton pupils were joined by many schools from around the local area.. Well done to all pupils that took part in the event.
After all the hard work Year 11 have done preparing and sitting their Maths exams, they were rewarded with an afternoon at Himley Hall. They had a look around the outside of the hall, walked to the boating lake and had a game of cricket.
As part of their topic of work for PWB and Maths Year 8 visited Safeside in Birmingham. It is a safety town run by West Midlands Fire Service. We had to spot hazards in different scenarios, and our guide explained how to keep ourselves, our belongings and money safe. We had a great day.
A group of year 7 students went across to Wolverhampton University to take part in this years Big Smile event (05/06/15). Students took part in activities run by students from the University that included Tag Rugby, Cricket and Cardio Tennis.
As part of their module of work a group of year 9 pupils visited RAF Museum Cosford before half term. We saw lots of different fighter planes from different countries and from different combats. We had fun in the "Fun & Flight" Centre where we found out about gravity and magnetism.
11th May 2015 As part of their module of work Year 7 visited Dudley Zoo and Castle. We saw lots of different animals! We counted different species of animals. We found out information about the animals and found the heaviest, lightest and shortest animals. We all had a great day.
After all that dancing last night, everyone slept very well. Once everyone was up and we'd had breakfast it was time to pack up and check the cabins were tidy. When everyone was packed, we split into teams and went orienteering around the camp site. Despite the rain, everyone had fun.
We dried off in front of a film before having lunch.
Soon the coach was loaded and we said our goodbyes to the Astley Burf staff. Although we were sad to leave we all have lots of happy memories of our week at camp.
Mrs Ashby would like to thank all the staff for all their hard work this week, and all the pupils for being so well behaved.
This morning we had to wave goodbye to Mr Chamberlain who had to head back to school, but we welcomed Mr Edney-Evans in his place. After breakfast we packed up our swimming gear and headed into Stourport. We went swimming and had a lot of fun.
When everyone was dressed we headed over to the park for fish and chips.
After letting our food go down, we had time for a play in the park.
When we got back to camp we had some free time before packing up our belongings ready for tomorrow.
After tea, we all put our glad rags on and headed to the Rec Room for the last night disco. Mr Chamberlain had supplied us with music and instructions on how to be a DJ. We had a slight glitter ball problem, but fortunately Mr Edney-Evans managed to rig up a high-tech solution.
The disco was great fun. Almost everyone joined in with the dancing, and we were joined by Mrs Doman, Mrs Duckworth, Mrs Ruston and Mrs Sidaway for the evening.
When the disco was over, everyone went to bed ready for our last morning before home.
After a good nights sleep we had an early start ready to head to Edgbaston Reservoir for another action packed day. We split into three teams and took turns trying out canoeing, fencing and archery.
After tea we all enjoyed a film before bed.
And Elliot had a very happy birthday :)
This morning we got up early ready for an exciting day of activities. Once the cabins were tidy (ish) we split into four teams to tackle the high wire, team games, mountain biking and the climbing wall. Everyone tried something new and overcame their fears.
After tea Mr Jones and Mr Charles popped by to make sure we are having a good time. We really are :)
Day one at Astley Burf! Today we enjoyed doing aoutdoor activities, including football, zip wire and American football. It was great fun!
After dinner it's team games and movie night!
