Wolverley Animal Centre #parenthub

Today, pupils in the Year 10 Community and Well-Being Pathway visited Wolverley Animal Centre. They practised their skills of handling small animals, helping with the daily feeding and cleaning and completing health checks. We met some very cool animals including Dizzy the chinchilla, Thor and Rodney the rats and lots of guinea pigs! Pupils worked really hard and showed off what they had learnt so far this year as part of their Practical Small Animal Care course. Thank you to Lucy Cull at the centre for sharing your knowledge and expertise and a huge well done to our Year 10 pupils- we can’t wait to come back!

Year 11 Dudley College Transition Visit #parenthub

On Tuesday 2nd April our Year 11 pupils visited Dudley College for their first transition visit in preparation for September. We toured the Broadway and Aspire campuses, met some of the tutors and took part in workshops in the print room. We also took part in a construction challenge where the task was to make the tallest structure from spaghetti, string, sellotape and a marshmallow. This was definitely a challenge! We also experienced lunch in the Refectory and even got to say hello to some ex-pupils which was lovely. Sutton pupils behaved wonderfully and showed us that they are ready for the next stage in their education. Thank you to all staff who supported during the day and well done Year 11!

Wild Acre Animal Rescue #parenthub

Pupils in our Year 9 Community and Well-Being Pathway had a wonderful visit from Wild Acre Animal Rescue. Diane is a foster carer who currently looks after thirty-eight cats! We learnt about the many different circumstances in which Wild Acre have rescued animals, discussed why it is so important to care for animals properly and what to do if you think an animal is not being looked after properly. We also met Rosie the rescue Pug and two lovely foster cats, Clark and Jerry who seemed to enjoy exploring Room 20! Staff and pupils from Sutton donated a huge amount of food, toys and blankets to Wild Acre and really did us proud. Diane will be back soon to work with some of our Year 10 pupils- we can’t wait!

Pupils had a fab lesson and our spell (experiment) was a slimy success! Well done 8.2.
