Class Based Provision

Year 7 set 2, 3, 4 and 8.4

September - First Half Term

After initial base line testing, we shall begin our cross curricular topic of ‘My World’. This includes who we are, our family, likes and dislikes, places we have visited, map work, our location in the world and general facts about the earth and environment. Our Science topic is ‘My Body’. PE is taught in four week blocks and this term the sports include; football, handball, rugby and basketball. Music lessons will focus on the elements of music: pitch, tempo, dynamics, and timbre. ICT is taught across the year, focussing on skills and e-safety.

English and Maths lessons will be taught daily, as well as tasks that support our topic, where relevant.

Year 8 set 2 and 3

September - First Half Term

Our cross curricular topic of World War One will focus on key facts. We will also look at poetry from this era. Relevant text will be chosen to support learning, for example Private Peaceful. Pupils will be taught about the ending of World War One and the significance of Remembrance. PE is taught in four week blocks and this term the sports include football, handball, rugby, basketball and swimming. Music lessons will focus on the elements of music: pitch, tempo, dynamics, and timbre.  Our Science topic will cover safety in the lab, using a microscope, plant cells and animal cells. ICT is taught across the year, focussing on skills and e-safety.

English and Maths lessons will be taught daily, as well as tasks that support our topic, where relevant.

Year 9 (4) and 10 (4)

Throughout the year, Class Based will be following AQA Unit Awards, which support skill based and independent learning. This will cover personal and home safety, food technology, personal well-being and life skills.  Practical Maths, English, Science and ICT will be taught.   PE will include, this term, basketball, football and badminton.

For all years, PHSE (including British Values) are taught within our topics, or as separate lessons. RE and Modern Foreign Language are taught as a Focus Day. We will be celebrating significant events and festivals during the school year.
