Summer - Second Half Term

Our next topic is Exploration and Discovery. We shall learn about explorers such as Christopher Columbus, early travel to America and the first colonies. English lessons will be based on Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stephenson.

In Maths, pupils follow Kangaroo Maths. Please refer to the Maths area for an overview of teaching.

In Science, we will be focussing on light, sound and colour.

PSHE will focus on relationships and personal development.

In PE, sport will include athletics and rounders.

Music lessons will explore vocal textures and singing.

Pupils will have Art, Design and Technology learning opportunities throughout the topic.

ICT is taught across the year, focussing on ICT skills and e-safety.

Summer - First Half Term

Our next topic is Food Glorious Food. We shall learn where food comes from (linking to the world map), how raw materials are made into food and food poverty. English lessons will be based around the text Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens.

In Maths, pupils follow Kangaroo Maths. Please refer to the Maths area for an overview of teaching.

In Science, pupils will learn about atoms, solids, liquids and gases.

In PE, sport will include athletics and rounders.

Music lessons will explore popular songs and arrangements.

ICT is taught across the year, focussing on ICT skills and e-safety.

PSHE will focus on keeping safe (sun safety and road safety) and relationships

Pupils will have Art, Design and Technology learning opportunities throughout the topic.

Year 9 (4) and 10 (4)

Throughout the year, Year 9 and 10 pupils in the Class-based Provision will be following AQA Unit Awards, which support skill-based and independent learning. This will cover personal and home safety, Food Technology, Personal Well-being and Life Skills.  Practical Maths, English, Science and ICT will be taught. Pupils will have Art and Design & Technology learning opportunities throughout the year. PE will include cricket, athletics and golf. PSHE will focus on ‘we are all neighbours’ and nutrition.

An RE and Modern Foreign Language Focus Day will take place during the year. We will be celebrating significant events and festivals during the school year.
