School has this academic year introduced a new ‘phase’ structure to support class organisation. The introduction of Phases will help us to group similar ability children more effectively. There will be three Phases as detailed below:
Years Y7 and Y8 will be the Trees Phase (rooted in place). There will be 6 tutor groups in this Phase. Classes will have teaching provided from a fixed classroom location and with a key teacher leading on most lessons.
Approximately half of the pupils drawn from Y9, Y10 and Y11 will become the Hills Phase. There will be 5 tutor groups in this Phase. Pupils will have core subjects provided from a fixed classroom with a key teacher leading. They will for Pathways and other non-core lessons move around the school to access specialist facilities and subject based teaching.
Approximately half of the pupils drawn from Y9, Y10 and Y11 will become the Rivers Phase (flowing from place to place). There will be 5 tutor groups in this Phase. Pupils will move around the school to access all their learning from within specialist facilities and with subject based learning.
These new Phase arrangements will help us ensure we provide both a safe and nurturing environment where it is most needed and also where pupils are ready, specialist subject based teaching. Phase trips and activities will also become part of the school calendar over the coming year.
