Y6 Transition 2026

We are looking forward to meeting all of our new starters and have planned a series of events to support this process, ease your worries and enable you to feel more comfortable and confident with the exciting changes that lie ahead! 

We have sent a letter out to all families whose children have confirmed placements at Sutton School from September 2026. A copy of this letter can be found here:

Initial Parents and Carers Transition Meeting
Tuesday 17th March (4:30 - 5:30 p.m.)

We hosted a successful 'Parent and Carers Transition Meeting' on Tuesday 17th March. Thank you to everyone who was able to attend. If you didn't manage to get to this event, the PowerPoint shared, can be found below: 

Parents and Carers Meeting

During the meeting, we discussed the roles of key staff and parents had the opportunity to meet the Year 7 class teachers for September 2026. Within the PowerPoint, we have also added QR code links to give more information about:

  • School transport
  • We Love Carers - Local charitable organisation

This meeting is always very well received and is designed to help parents and carers feel confident and well-prepared to support their child. We hope that you enjoyed it!

Let's Make Friends Sessions

These three dates offer an opportunity for Pupils, and Parents and Carers to spend time getting to know Sutton prior to starting in September. Always a success, these sessions include tea/coffee and biscuits!

  • Thursday 4th June
  • All sessions are 4:00 – 5:00 p.m.

Wonderdome

On Friday 3rd July 2026, we will be welcoming 'Wonderdome' into school where our new students will be able to experience the wonders of space through a mobile planetarium show.

An autism-friendly pre-visit information pack is available if you would like to learn more about the show and what to expect.

Primary Liaison Week: Monday 29th June - Friday 3rd July

Every new pupil will be invited to visit school during Primary Liaison week. This will consist of one morning session (Monday – Thursday) where they will meet peers in their class. The second visit will be on Friday 4th July. Further details about this week will be shared at our Parents and Carers meeting.
