Sports
Intent
To provide our pupils with the opportunity to gain a qualification while taking part in a wide variety of sporting activities and games. Pupils will also develop their knowledge of the requirements of a healthy diet, how the body works and job opportunities within the sector.
Implementation
As pupils progress through into Hills and Rivers, they can expand their knowledge and skills in Sports by working towards gaining a vocational qualification. This includes BTEC Level 1 Sports, WJEC Entry2/3 Healthy Living and ASDAN Entry 1 Personal Progress.
A Pathway in Sports consists of two double lessons each week; one lesson at least will be taught at a local leisure centre. Pupils experience a broad range of inclusive sporting activities and games which include invasion games, net games, fitness, athletics, striking and fielding.
