Hair & Beauty

Intent 

Pathways in Hair and Beauty provides pupils with the opportunity to explore essential skills needed to work in the Hair and Beauty industry. Our fully functioning salon enables pupils to experience real life situations, including treatments, customer service and health and safety in a workplace.

Implementation  

As pupils progress through into Hills and Rivers, pupils have the opportunity to explore their interest in Hair and Beauty through Pathway lessons, and work towards gaining a vocational qualification. Qualifications for this subject include BTEC Level 1 Hair and Beauty, WJEC Preparing for Work and ASDAN Personal Progress.

The courses we offer enable our pupils to experience a broad range of treatments in the hair and beauty industry, whilst exploring skills in skin, nail and hair care. Through exploring the industry, pupils will look at the effects of both positive and negative communication/behaviour in a salon, how a professional image is achieved in a salon and how to maintain personal hygiene.
